 One of my favorite actors, Morgan Freeman, will  join Queen Latifah to host a series of concerts at the White House through February celebrating music of the civil rights movement.

Natalie Cole, Jennifer Hudson, Bob Dylan, John Legend, Smokey Robinson, Seal, and John Mellencamp will all perform at the February 10th event that will be broadcast the next night (check local listings for channel & time).  I am personally looking forward to this guy….:)                       and this guy….:)

The evening will include speeches by President and Mrs. Obama and readings from civil rights speeches. I like the fact that the Obamas are taking time to celebrate the civil rights movement with music…I hope it remains forward thinking. I appreciate the Obamas bringing the arts back to the White House.  Your thoughts?

ELTON JOHN AND LADY GAGA TO DUET AT GRAMMYS? The New York Post reports that John will join Lady Gaga onstage Sunday. Remeber to get your FREE 3-D glasses at Target for the special Michael Jackson tribute. It is a glam-outrageous -theatrical-star-studded evening this Sunday…invite friends over and make it a fun one.

WILL FERRELL IS A DAD AGAIN: Will Ferrell and his wife Viveca Paulin welcomes their third son on Saturday (January 24th). Axel Ferrell was born just hours after Viveca showed off her baby bump on Conan O’Brien’s final Tonight Show. Will’s rep confirmed the birth, saying, “All the Ferrells are well.”

“This house is clear”…..(loved her)…ZELDA RUBINSTEIN DIES: Poltergeist actress Zelda Rubinstein died on Wednesday (January 27th) at the age of 76 and I hope she went into the light. Rubinstein, who played the psychic hired to rid a home of demonic forces in the horror film, died at Barlow Respiratory Hospital after a series of health problems. She also appeared in “Frances,” “Sixteen Candles,” “Teen Witch” and “Southland Tales,” and was a regular on the TV series “Picket Fences.” Rubenstein, who was 4′ 3″, founded the Michael Dunn Memorial Repertory Theater Company, comprised of 16 actors all less than 4 feet 6.

WOW….ABC CANCELS ‘UGLY BETTY’: I guess it was inevitable…how long can one wear braces? ABC has canceled Ugly Betty. EW.com reports that the network recently informed the show’s producers that its current fourth season will also be its last — and ABC has trimmed the show’s episode order from 22 to 20. Executive producer Silvio Horta and ABC president Steve McPherson confirmed the news in a joint statement: “We’ve mutually come to the difficult decision to make this Ugly Betty’s final season, and are announcing now as we want to allow the show ample time to write a satisfying conclusion. We are extremely proud of this groundbreaking series, and felt it was important to give the fans a proper farewell.”

 ‘HARRY POTTER’ COMING TO IMAX: Warner Brothers will release the next two Harry Potter films in 3D. The Hollywood Reporter acknowledged that studios have been looking to expand into 3D after seeing the success of Avatar and it’s likely that Warner Bros. will be releasing the upcoming Clash of the Titans in 3D as well.

This coming weekend is a good weekend for awards with a major award Saturday night.  It’s the crowning of the new Miss America.  It’s on the TLC cable network.  Dave Koz is a guest judge Saturday night.  No word if he’ll play sax, but I hope so.  Another celebrity judge…and who first comes to mind when thinking of Miss America?…Rush Limbaugh. 

Then Sunday night is the Grammy Awards.  The best in music will be there at 8:00 on CBS.  At www.grammy.com/photos, you’ll see KSSJ favorites Mindi Abair, Boney James & Brian Culbertson highlighted.  Jim Brickman is nominated for a Grammy for best New Age album of the year for “Faith.”  I spoke with Jim on the phone the other day.  That interview will be right here very soon.  Jim will be on CBS’s The Early Show this Saturday morning.  Some of our other KSSJ favorites nominated for Grammies are Stevie Wonder, Beyonce, Jason Mraz, The Rippingtons, Seal, Norah Jones, Chris Botti & more.  The smart money seems to be on Taylor Swift as the big winner of the evening.  The young phenom & talent, who just turned 20, did an interview recently where she was asked if there was anything else she could ask for in this young life.  She said, “Well, I haven’t won a Grammy…”  That may change Sunday night.

SIMON COWELL REPORTEDLY WANTS A RECORD DEAL WITH ROB PATTINSON

Rob Pattinson could be going from vampire to singing sensation. The U.K. Sun reports that Simon Cowell wants to sign the Twilight star — who has contributed tracks to the movie soundtracks — to a record deal.

 A source told the paper, “Robert is reluctant to be turned into a pop star — he takes his music very seriously.” The insider added, “He is a bit wary of signing up with Cowell who is, of course, associated with X-Factor and pop.”

• Pattinson also plays the piano and the guitar.

   JOHN TRAVOLTA LANDS IN HAITI: John Travolta has landed his own jet in Haiti carrying relief supplies and a team including doctors and Scientology ministers.  

JENNIFER ANISTON HELPS OUT AS WELL!

Jennifer Aniston is the latest celebrity donating major cash to help out in Haiti. E! reports that the actress has given $500,000 to Doctors Without Borders, Partners in Health and AmeriCares for their recovery efforts in the disaster-stricken Caribbean nation. She also participated in last week’s Hope for Haiti telethon, which has raised over $58 million.

PAULA ABDUL OFFERED ABC DEAL: TMZ.com reports that ABC has offered Abdul a $1,000,000 development deal, with one catch — she has to appear on “DWTS.”

Phoebe Snow had to have emergency surgery after suffering a brain hemorrhage on January 19th. The 58 year old singer is best known for her 1975 hit “Poetry Man. Her publicist posted a message on phoebesnow.com saying, “Phoebe is a very strong person and she is stable now. It is too early to assess any residual motor damage, and we are taking it day-by-day, but doctors are hopeful for a complete recovery. She was very excited about starting engagements with her new band, and we have now postponed them. Please keep her in your prayers.”

I will update this special kind of blog regularly…I’m calling it  CHIT CHAT: So What!… 

… because many of us like to “shoot the chit”–so to speak–and who really cares about this kind of stuff anyway…therefore–so what! But, maybe this kind of info will come in handy at a party or even at work shootin’ the chit chat in the kitchen with co-workers, etc.  …you never know. And, if ever I post something that later is proven to not be true I will also let you know and retract. Most of my info comes from sources within the industries of entertainment and often they are wrong but it still makes great CHIT CHAT! ….which really is just plain ol’ gossip but I won’t be mean….just informative, insightful and maybe a little bit nosey.

 I hear, newly engaged,  Michael Buble’ will be the musical guest on SNL, Jan. 30th. Oh yes…I hope he stays happy in love in his personal life and his Argentian fiance’ and he will marry and stay together forever…don’t we all hope this for everyone….lalalalala…I sure do.

 Don’t you just love being right? I made a bet a couple of years ago with a music industry guy that Lady Gaga got her name from the rock group Queen and their  song, “Radio Ga Ga” . Well, I won the bet …but so what! The poor guy was still in his 20’s and he didn’t know the song.  But for chit chat sake…it is true and it was Music producer Rob Fusari who gave Gaga her nickname after the Queen song “Radio Ga Ga,” because her vocal style reminded him of Freddie Mercury.

Note: Prior to taking on the Lady Gaga stage name and persona, she performed as the Stefani Germonotta Band, and was a brunette. She released a limited acoustic five-song demo entitled Red and Blue. Lady Gaga admits she was always strange as a young girl and her art has made her a multi-millionaire. What she does is grueling city to city and she needs to take care not to implode.

Tiger Woods continues to stir controversy even while reportedly in a rehab facility for sex addiction. We have heard the following and, of course, we don’t know if it’s true…but….for instance , while other patients must attend group sessions to discuss their histories and triggers, Woods has opted for one-on-one counseling. He is also reportedly getting maid service, while other patients are required to scrub toilets and more as part of their therapy. “When Tiger enters one of the public areas, other patients have been told they have to leave the room,” said a source. “Other patients share a cabin, but Tiger has his own. His special privileges are causing a lot of resentment.”

• Woods reportedly continues to insist that he does not have a sexual addiction, but is taking part in the six-week Gentle Paths program at the Pine Grove Behavioral Health and Addiction Services clinic to appease his wife, Elin Nordegren. The Swedish beauty threatened to leave him and take their two children to her homeland if he didn’t.
• Though Elin has not visited Tiger at the facility, the program requires her to show up for a brutal “disclosure day,” when the golfer must confess to all of his affairs.
• Tiger’s rehab program reportedly includes getting up at 5:30 a.m. each day, eating breakfast, then getting treatment from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The program also includes meditation and the classic 12-step program model. At group sessions, the therapist writes a so-called “stop word” on a blackboard — if a patient tells a sexual story and another patient in the room starts to get aroused, they yell the “stop word” to pause the session until passions subside. Tiger has refused to take part in these group displays.

ROB LOWE LEAVING ‘BROTHERS & SISTERS’: I know…so what….Rob Lowe is leaving ABC’s Brothers & Sisters later this season. Deadline Hollywood reported that Lowe felt he was being underutilized on the ABC drama and asked to be released from his contract. The network granted his request and he’ll leave at the end of the season. Deadline also reported that ABC wants to remain in business with Lowe and is talking to him about headlining his own series…but the title “HUNG” has already been taken…sorry Rob!
